Local Animal Rescue Brings Joy to Many

Every time I visit my friend Shawn’s house I have to say hello to her lovely dog Rue.  She doesn’t jump up and greet visitors at the door like most dogs.  Instead, she quietly takes in your presence as if she is contemplating your reason for stopping by.  I first met Rue when Shawn brought her home from the All 4 Paws Animal Shelter in Pawley’s Island.  She had just weaned a litter of puppies and like many shelter dogs she looked tired and a bit broken down.  But something about Rue told me not to count her out; behind her dark stoic eyes was a dog with lots of love to give.  Though Shawn only intended to foster Rue until the shelter found her a forever home, she quickly decided that Rue would have to stay.  Shawn nursed her back to health and she often tells me that she cannot imagine a life without sweet and gentle Rue.

Rue has made an impact on both of our lives and it is all thanks to the ongoing efforts of ALL 4 PAWS Animal Shelter.  Their mission statement best describes the shelter and its goals :

All 4 Paws is an animal rescue that addresses the physical and emotional needs of abandoned animals, through a holistic approach. We strive to save as many lives as possible while remaining a humane, no-kill shelter. The vast majority of our animals were homeless, abandoned, or abused.
