Ocean Drive On Foot

Living in a tourist destination has its advantages. One such benefit is friends and family always want to visit. I was fortunate to have some college friends in town the past few days for Spring Break. It was wonderful to spend time with them in the evenings when I wasn’t working. They said they really liked staying in Ocean Drive because they could walk to restaurants on Main Street.

Although I am a local living in Cherry Grove, I often wish I could walk to a restaurant. Sometimes finding a parking spot can be difficult, other times I have spent the afternoon tanning in my backyard and sipping pina coladas. For this reason, I think the vacation rentals Elliott Beach Rentals manages in Ocean Drive are especially appealing because they offer proximity to restaurants, shops and bars; not to mention easy access to the rest of the beach via Robert Edge Parkway.

Since my friends asked me to recommend restaurants along Main Street in North Myrtle Beach, I thought other visitors may appreciate a local’s perspective. I have shared my picks with you below.

Ocean Drive

Deckerz

90 Hillside Drive South, North Myrtle Beach, (843) 280-1200

Their menu mainly consists of appetizers and sandwiches, but there is always a party going on.

Duffy Street Seafood Shack

202 Main Street, North Myrtle Beach, (843) 281-9840

My friends liked Duffy’s so much, they went twice during their trip. The Happy Hour specials can’t be beat.

Flynn’s Irish Tavern

421 Main Street, North Myrtle Beach, (843) 249-6533

Go on an empty stomach — their hearty portions will fill you up!

Another restaurant serving huge portions. Check their website for coupons and specials.

A locals’ favorite breakfast spot. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Hot Diggity Diner

This oceanfront restaurant is a convenient place to grab lunch and head back to the beach quickly.

OD Arcade and Lounge

Daily lunch specials, TVs and pool tables make this a great place to cool down before heading back out on the beach.

Sometimes, you crave something other than seafood. Seasonal.
