Thank You and Welcome Home, Troops!

After nearly nine years, the War in Iraq has come to an end.  The remaining troops from Iraq are finally on their way home and we welcome them all as hero’s.  Many of them will be home before Christmas and the remainder will be out of Iraq by the New Year.  According to the Department of Defense, of the more than 1.5 million Americans who served in Iraq, nearly 4,500 paid the ultimate sacrifice; an estimated 30,000 troops were injured.   No matter what ones political beliefs are we should all welcome them home and celebrate their selfless acts of bravery and the sacrifices made on behalf of our Country.  Our prayers for our troops this holiday season is that this is the last war you will ever have to fight.

Welcome home.

Thank you for writing this article. I’m happy to come from a long line of military personnel in my family. I don’t ever take my freedom for granted. Many thank you’s to all our service people – we are able to sleep at night under the blanket of safety that they provide for us. Merry Christmas!
