Five Pet-Friendly Places to Visit During Your Next Grand Strand Getaway

Break out the treats and don’t scrimp on the tummy rubs, February 19th is National Love Your Pet Day! On this special holiday, we take time out of our busy schedules to show some love to those furry, four-legged friends who show nothing but love all year long.

Here at Elliott Realty, we understand that the family pet is family all the same. We pride ourselves on being one of the most pet-inclusive rental companies in South Carolina: featuring a diverse array of pet-friendly vacation properties all along the Grand Strand.

In the spirit of National Love Your Pet Day, we’ve put together this list of the five best places for you and your pet to visit during your next Grand Strand Getaway!

The Market Common

Home to a plethora of upscale boutiques, trendy restaurants, a private park, and thrilling entertainment venues, The Market Common offers a unique lifestyle experience that every member of your family can enjoy…including the four-legged ones.

Many of the shops in The Market Common pride themselves on their pet-friendly status, offering bowls of water and gourmet treats at the entry area for your pets to enjoy. A particular favorite amongst pets and pet parents alike is the Elegant Pet Store & Resort. In addition to offering a wide variety of pet products, the Elegant Pet Store & Resort also offers luxurious boarding accommodations for your pets during your Grand Strand Getaway.

After a fun-filled day exploring all that the Market Common has to offer, enjoy a delectable meal outdoors at any of the Market Common’s numerous pet-friendly restaurants, including The Gordon Biersch Brewery, Tupelo Honey, and King Street Grille.

Barefoot Landing

Boasting an endless assortment of waterfront dining, boutique shopping, and two of the Grand Strand’s most popular live-entertainment venues—The Alabama Theater and The House of Blues—Barefoot Landing is the official hangout hub of North Myrtle Beach!

Located along the beautiful banks of the Intracoastal Waterway, Barefoot Landing effortlessly combines the serenity of nature with non-stop fun and excitement that the entire family will love—including the family pet.

Like the Market Common, many of the shops around Barefoot Landing are very pet-friendly. As you walk around, you will see many storefronts with treats and bowls of water left out front for your pet to enjoy while you shop. A must-visit for any true-blue pet lover is the always Faux Paws pet store. Offering a variety of novelty items, t-shirts, toys, costumes, gourmet treats, and even a photo op’ for Fido, Faux Paws is one of the most pet-friendly stores on the Grand Strand.

Feeling hungry after a day of fun with your furry little friend? Barefoot Landing is home to a plethora of pet-friendly restaurants, including Bully’s Pub & Grill, Greg Norman’s Australian Grille, River City Café, and Taco Mundo Kitchen Y Cantina.

North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex

Dog parks abound on the Grand Strand. No matter where you’re staying during your vacation, you will most likely be no more than a few minutes away from a verdant public park where man’s best friend can frolic and play. For the best possible experience, however, we highly recommend you check out the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex.

The North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex offers one of the largest and most popular dog parks in the area. The expansive ‘barc parc’ space features private, fenced-in areas for both large dogs and small dogs, drinking fountains, and an on-site “Dirty Dawg” pet washing station.

In addition to offering one of the finest dog parks found anywhere on the East Coast, the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex also plays frequent host to many pet-friendly events—such as the Humane Society’s Annual Macaroni Mania.

The Living Large Party Barge

Looking to spend some time on the water with your precious pooch? Then book your voyage aboard the Living Large Party Barge.

Based out of the Cherry Grove section of North Myrtle Beach, the Living Large Party Barge offers private boat charters for parties of six passengers or less. In addition to offering the perfect outing with family and friends, the Living Large Party Barge also offers convenient booze cruise packages.

Dogs are welcome with a prior arrangement on private charter tours at Living Large Party Barge in Myrtle Beach. Enjoy a dog-friendly day spent on the water swimming, fishing, and touring the coastline.

The Beach

Come on, it wouldn’t be a beach trip without spending a little time in the sand and surf! If you have never experienced the utter jubilation that comes from watching your dog frolic and play on the beach for the first time, then you are in for a treat!

Most public beaches in the Myrtle Beach area are pet-friendly during early morning hours or during late evenings year-round. If you are staying in North Myrtle Beach, please keep these rules in mind. Your dog must be on a leash at all times while in public. During peak travel season (May 15th– September 15th), dogs are prohibited on the beach between the hours 9 AM and 5 PM. However, during the offseason (September 16th-May 14th), dogs are allowed on the beach at any time.

If you are staying in Myrtle Beach proper, your dog must always also remain on a leash at all times while in public. During peak summer months—May 1st-Labor Day—dogs are prohibited on the beach between the hours of 10 AM and 5 PM From Labor Day to April 30th, dogs are allowed on the beach at any time of day. Please be advised that pets are prohibited year-round on the strip of beach between 21st Avenue North and 13th Avenue South.
